Birth to Three Centres of Excellence

Redcliffe Children's Centre and Nursery School

Boy slicing an apple

In our outstanding provision for 2 year olds we specialise in an outdoor approach to learning, including weekly forest trips for children. The under threes take part in our creative food project. Examples from our nursery of this approach to food can be found on the BBC  I Wonder website.

We also offer an example of a high quality learning environment, a key person approach based on attachment theory, effective working with vulnerable children and their families, an observation assessment and a planning cycle that ensures the progress of each child and which includes ACE and Making Learning Visible.

Being Two Project

Nursery manager Helen Payne leads on the Being Two project, developed in partnership with Pen Green Children’s Centre.  Carole Keane, Assistant Head at Redcliffe (in conjunction with Lead Teacher Rachel Pirie from St. Paul’s children’s centre) facilitates continued professional development entitled Amazing Twos.  Sharyn Ayres (Assistant Head, Family Services) and teacher Lisa Allen, run a PICL (Parents involved in their children’s learning) course. We can offer visits or CPD in regard to any of the above which is bespoke and shaped to your needs.

We offer:

  • A multisensory approach to Food
  • Outdoor experiences
  • PICL
  • Amazing Twos
  • Aspects of the Being Two project
